This is one of several fonts I found on a BBS. Please note that I am not the author, but am copyrighting and distributing this font as freeware, as I have done rather a lot of work on the font (adding diacritical characters, cleaning it up, etc., etc., etc...). Oh, yeah, I also converted it from Windows format, and not without some help from Altsys's wonderful Fontographer. The actual work took place back in 1994, and the font has been languishing on a floppy since then. I had intended to upload it but for one reason or another it never happened.

I'm not sure of this font's origin, or even of its proper name. I just know that it's been getting a lot of play lately with a lot of generation X schlock. It was used for the movies "Dazed & Confused" and "Reality Bites," not to mention on both of the Galactic Cowboys' CDs (Must-hear thrash metal from Texas) and on Radiohead's superlative effort, "Pablo Honey." Like Adobe's Tekton, it is swiftly reaching the point of overuse and cliché.

  8. Included please find the TrueType version (Smoothplate.fam) which includes Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. If you want a Type 1 Postscript version of this font, please email me at gypsy@ixc.net. I WILL reply if you write. It may take me a while, but I will reply.

  10. This font is 100% FREE. I will not charge for what is, for the most part, another person's work. If you REALLY feel the need to pay for it, send $5 to the Audobon society.
